Samue have been worn for centuries by Buddhist Monks as semi-formal wear, but more recently has also been worn as clothes for working outside. Others quickly became aware of the it’s attributes, and the Samue is now worn around the world as lounge wear, and everyday wear. “Samu” means everyday labor work as practiced by Zen Buddhists, and “e” means clothing.
