Shakuhachi Players and Organizations
- Torsten Olafsson Danish shakuhachi scholar and player, rock musician, and prolific music producer has translated one of the oldest existing historical shakuhachi documents, Kaido Honsoku. His site is a fascinating wealth of information about shakuhachi hisotry and philosophy from the 17th century to the present. He also has the largest compilation of ancient renderings of shakuhachi from Japan.
- Hiroyuki Kodama. Atsuya Okuda's most accomplished student. Kodama lives in the hills of Nagano where he harvests his own bamboo to make wonderful jinashi shakuhachi.
- Yoshio Kurahashi. One of the most popular shakuhachi masters in the world, based out of Kyoto who travels widely with students all over the globe.
- Yano Shiku. Jodo Shu priest and Shakuhachi player who lives in Aichi prefecture in Nagoya. He often goes to Europe to tour with fellow musicians playing compositions of original music.
Shakuhachi Makers
- Yamaguchi Shugetsu is a leading maker of traditional shakuhachi based in Nara, Japan. He is well-known for his exceptionally high quality jinashi shakuhachi flutes.
- Taro Miura. Shakuhachi maker, kyudo master, and poet laureate living in Mie prefecture. He is the organizer of the popular "Candle Concert" for shakuhachi which takes place every summer on his property.
- Kinya and Laurie Sogawa's homepage. Kinya-san is a leading shakuhachi maker and player in Japan.
- Monty Levenson is a maker of fine shakuhachi, the inventor of the "cast bore" technique of construction, and his website is the leading commercial site for shakuhachi.

Shiho's website. Kanzaki Shiho is a potter in
Shiga-raki, Japan and master of the Shiga-raki yaki
tradition of pottery.

- Samue Take Toshi, a great site for purchasing high quality, reasonably priced samue, made in Japan. Excellent selection of colors and styles. A perfect garment to wear while playing shakuhachi!
