Playing Instructions:
Playing honkyoku was originally transmitted aurally/orally. Learning from notation is a relatively recent phenomenon. It is only a skeleton of the true body of the piece, which you learn from disciplined study with a qualified teacher until you embody the piece. These playing instructions are free for the public to download. These honkyoku are written by my own hand; the titles were written in ancient Chinese script by zen monk, Chien Harne (Mastery Henry) of the Sunshine Zen Montastery. A donation would be appreciated (e.g. $10 per booklet.) If you would like a CD of all these piece (all recorded on a 1.8 for study purposes) please let me know and I will send one to you. Each CD is also $10.00.
(Please click on the character photo to download the playing instructions and "listen" to hear this piece.)
